Readifood - A small charity a day in May - Day Twenty

Welcome to day twenty in Week Three - Caring and Sharing where I highlight those small charities that care for those in need and share their skills.

For an introduction to the entire series please visit http://llmcalling.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/small-charity-day-in-may.html

Readifood is a Reading based Christian charity, providing for the needy and homeless in the town. Social Services and local doctors can refer people to Readifood who in turn deliver food parcels to homes on a short term basis.

Around 100 people/ couples/ families in Reading are referred to Readifood for help at any one time, but the charity only have the resources to currently help 25 of these.

Readifood are totally reliant on local donations, and individual donations can make a HUGE difference to people in reading. The charity says we can all make a difference by forming the habit of 'simply picking up an extra item on our way around the supermarket'!

This is so true and I constantly remind myself and others that if we all buy just one extra item & donate it, think of the impact we can have on our community, on a family and a child!
